Why I sometimes use the word ‘Punishment’
instead of ‘crucifixion’.

THE COMPONENTS OF JESUS’ PUNISHMENT

Jesus’ crucifixion is his most recognised
punishment in our place.

But it’s not his only punishment
in our place.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Hence I use the word ‘Punishment’ to include
his:
      beating:
John c19 v3
      scourging:
Matt c27 v26     Mark c15 v15     John c19 v1
      crown of thorns:   Matt c27 v29     Mark c15 v17     John c19 v2
      crucifixion:
Matt c27 v35     Mark c15 v25     Luke c23 v33     John c19 v18., ,

Some parts of the Bible say that:
            our miraculous healings
were given to us by:
Jesus’ wounding  (beating, scourging, crown of thorns),
rather than by:
            his death  (crucifixion).

            Isa c53 v5:
            But he
was wounded for our transgressions,

he was bruised for our iniquities:
            the chastisement of our peace
was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
KJV
,                  Written before Jesus’ Punishment.

            1 Pet c2 v24:
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
            that
we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
            by whose stripes
ye were healed.   KJV
,                  Written after Jesus’ Punishment.

            Unlike the above texts
the following text does not say how Jesus took our sicknesses.
But it does say Jesus took our sicknesses.

            Matt c8 v16-17:
When the even was come, they brought unto him
many that were possessed with devils:
and he cast out the spirits with
his word,
and healed all that were sick:
            that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
                 Himself took our infirmities,
                 and bare
our sicknesses.   KJV

But I reckon that the Bible says:
            Jesus’ wounding . . gave us . . healing
(above texts)
            &
            Jesus’ death . . . . . . gave us . . life
(John c10 v10)

because:
healing . . is the opposite to . . wounding
            &
            life . . . . . . is the opposite to . . death.

.

Indeed, I reckon that, technically speaking:
Jesus did not take our sicknesses,
            he took our place.

            He took our place,
made all of us right with his Father,
so that his Father could then offer his Holy Spirit
to believers (believers who had renewed their minds):
So that they could command miracles
                       in Jesus’ name.
And so they could pray, ask God, for good things,
because he is now their Father too.

But, practically speaking,
the effect is as if
he did indeed take our sicknesses.

            Isa c53 v5:
            But he
was wounded for our transgressions,

he was bruised for our iniquities:
            the chastisement of our peace
was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
KJV

            1 Pet c2 v24:
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
            that
we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
            by whose stripes
ye were healed.   KJV

            Matt c8 v16-17:
When the even was come, they brought unto him
many that were possessed with devils:
and he cast out the spirits with
his word,
and healed all that were sick:
            that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
                  Himself took our infirmities,
                  and bare
our sicknesses.   KJV

.

SO, IT’S MOST PRACTICAL TO SEE YOUR HEALING
AS HAVING HAPPENED TWO-THOUSAND YEARS AGO.
NOT NOW.

Technically speaking:

            We believe, now,
in Jesus’ past act of self-sacrifice.

Hence we have God’s Spirit now.

Hence we command or pray now
            which produces answers (very) soon.

                       Mark c11 v22-24    (Matt c21 v21-22):
                       And
Jesus answering saith unto them,
                             Have faith in God.
For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
                                   Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
                             but shall believe
                             that those things which he saith shall come to pass;
he shall have whatsoever he saith.
                       Therefore I say unto you,
                             What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive
them,
                             and ye shall have
them.   KJV

But, practically speaking:

            It’s less convoluted to believe
            that Jesus personally took
            our sins, sickness, & lack
(poverty),
            two-thousand years ago.

,                  Perhaps see later section:
,
JESUS’ PUNISHMENT WAS A LEGAL MATTER
,                  and, immediately after it:
,                  THE LAMB OR THE SCAPEGOAT.

STUDYING AND DOING

To study Christianity:

                       Be objective.

                       Have in your mind:
                                   God,
                                   & yourself,
                                   & your belief in him.

To do Christianity:

                       Be subjective.

                       Have in your mind:
                                   only God,
                                   not yourself,
                                   not your belief in him.
