More ways
that Jesus spoke to our hearts/
spirits

Jesus spoke:
            not to the mind
but through the mind, to the heart/
spirit.

heart/spirit   mind   soul   Jesus’ spoken words

            To the un-renewed mind
World makes sense to:   mind           not heart/
spirit.

Jesus makes sense to:     heart/spirit    not mind.

            To the renewed mind:
                       World
makes sense to:   heart/spirit    and mind.
                       Jesus makes
sense to:     heart/spirit    and mind.

.

YOU MUST RENEW YOUR MIND

The previous section shows that:
To make full sense of Jesus’ sayings
(so that you can act on those sayings)
            your heart/
spirit must first renew your mind,
so that your mind become like your heart/
spirit.

,                  Perhaps see earlier section: WHAT IS A RENEWED MIND?
,                  and
,                  immediately after it: DOING MIRACLES
,                  and
,                  immediately after that: WHAT IS A RENEWED MIND: SOME DETAILS, , .

It was at Pentecost,
after Jesus had lived & died & risen:
that God’s Spirit started living in believers
Acts c2 v1-12
            instead of only with believers.
John c14 v17

Hence, Jesus’ sayings:
were known – as soon as he told them (in the gospels)
but understood – only later (from Pentecost onwards).

,,        ,,        Knowledge,,,,,,       =,,     mental models.
,,        ,,        Understanding,,     =,,     the organic linking of those mental models.

,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ‘Organic’, here, meaning:  like a spider’s web
,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        ,,        with the most important bits in the middle.

Pentecost has long since happened.
And many people today know Jesus’ sayings.

But if you haven’t yet renewed your mind
then
you don’t yet understand Jesus’ sayings:
cannot make more than mere words out of them.

For example:
            The
heart/spirit sees Jesus’ command “love your enemies”
            as right.

            But the soul
,                   Or, to be precise, the un-renewed mind within the soul
,                  (soul = mind + emotions + cultures)

stops the heart/spirit from expressing it materially.

            Hence, even though the
heart/spirit is a good structure,
            it is isolated and ineffective.

To conclude:
To make full sense of Jesus’ sayings
(so that you can act on those sayings)
            your heart/
spirit must first renew your mind,
so that your mind becomes like your heart/
spirit.

BIBLICAL EVIDENCE
THAT JESUS SPOKE
TO ONLY OUR HEARTS/
SPIRITS

One piece of evidence
that Jesus spoke:
            to only our hearts/
spirits,
            and not to our minds,
is when he spoke in parables.

One day, in Matt c12, Jesus had a strong verbal conflict
with those who hated him, and eventually killed him.

Later that same day,
Matt c13,
Jesus preached to a very large crowd
that must therefore have had
both the righteous and the wicked in it.
Perhaps see earlier section: JESUS’ USE OF THE WORDS ‘RIGHTEOUS’ AND ‘WICKED’.

            Matt c13 v10-15    (Mark c4 v11-12    Luke c8 v10)
            (
Matt c25 v29    Mark c4 v25    Luke c8 v18    c19 v26):
And the disciples came, and said unto him,
Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
He answered and said unto them,
Because it is given unto you
to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven,
but to them it is not given.
                       For whosoever hath,
                       to him shall be given,
and he shall have more abundance:
                       but whosoever hath not,
from him shall be taken away
                       even that he hath.
Therefore speak I to them in parables:
                       because they seeing
                       see not;
                       and hearing
                       they hear not,
                       neither do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith,
                       By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand;
and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
for this people's heart is waxed gross,
                       and
their ears are dull of hearing,
                       and their eyes they have closed;
lest at any time they should see with
their eyes,
                       and hear with
their ears,
                       and should understand with
their heart,
                       and should be converted,
                       and I should heal them.
   KJV

,                  The above, deep, division, is how Jesus saw Isa c6 v8-10.

,                  But Paul wrongly* saw it as merely between Jews and gentiles.  Acts c28 v25-27
,                  (*See item 2) of earlier section: MY ATTITUDE TO THE BIBLE.)

,                  Perhaps also see later section: SOCIALLY CONSTRUCTIVE & SOCIALLY DIVISIVE, , .

            Eventually, hearts/spirits build minds.
            And m
inds cannot comprehend
what they’re not built to comprehend.

            Jesus
spoke in parables
            because his parables were:
                       Not accepted by
                       the wicked’s hearts/
spirits
                       (which built the wicked’s minds).
                       Hence not comprehended by
                       the wicked’s minds.

Another piece of evidence
that Jesus spoke:
            to only our hearts/
spirits
            and not to our minds,

is that he deliberately repelled anyone
who listened with only their minds.

            For example:

            John c6 v1-63          Mark c6 v31-52             Matt c14 v13-33

            John c6 v1-63   Mark c6 v31-52    Matt c14 v13-33:    my abbn

1-14 Jesus miraculously created food
                  for a very large crowd.

15   But (some of) the people didn’t get it,
merely wanted to make him king.

45 22  Then Jesus strongly urged his disciples
to sail across the sea of Galilee
                  even though they could see
that the weather was turning bad,

19   Then Jesus walked across, on the water,
51   but his disciples were shocked at this
52   because they didn’t get it,
didn’t get Jesus’ miracle of creating food.
31   Then Peter struggled to walk on water
                  (because he didn’t get it,
didn’t get Jesus’ miracle of creating food).
24   When the crowds caught up with Jesus
26   he told them they didn’t get it,
that they only thought about free food.

28   They asked him how they too could do miracles.
29   Jesus said “Believe on me”.
30   They asked him to do a miracle for them,
like Moses created food (manna) in the desert.

32   Jesus said “That wasn’t true food from Heaven,
35   I am the true food from Heaven,
so come to me, believe in me.
37   All those the Father gives to me will come to me
and I’ll lose none of them.”
42   They said “We don’t believe you’re from Heaven.”
44   He said “All those the Father gives to me will come to me.
47   Believe on me, so as to have everlasting Life.
48   I am the true food from Heaven,
so come to me, believe in me.
50   Eat me so as to live forever.
51   Eat me so as to live forever.
52   They said “Yuk.  Cannibalism.”  (They didn’t get it.)
53   Jesus said “Eat my flesh and drink my blood
or you’ll have no Life in you

54   and you won’t live forever.
56   Eat me, so that I’ll live in you, and you’ll live in me.
            57   God makes me live.
Likewise: eat me, so that I’ll make you live.”

60   Even Jesus’ disciples barely got it.
63   Jesus said “The heart/spirit gets it.  The soul doesn’t get it.”

,                  Verse 63, in the KJV, uses the word flesh, not soul.

CONTRADICTORY TEACHINGS
THAT ARE RESOLVED BY:
HEART/
SPIRIT AND RENEWED MIND
BUT NOT BY
THE UN-RENEWED MIND.

VARIOUS GENERAL CONTRADICTIONS OF JESUS

Yet another piece of evidence:
that Jesus spoke:
            to only our hearts/
spirits
            and not to our minds,

is that his contradictions are resolved:

            By the heart/
spirit.
            Or by a renewed mind.

But not by an un-renewed mind.

,                  My comments in orange.

            Mark c11 v23    (
Matt c21 v21):
For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
                 Be thou removed,
                 and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith
            shall come to pass;
            he shall have
            whatsoever he saith.
   KJV

Luke c11 v29-32:
This wicked generation asks for miraculous signs,
but I won’t give them any
.   my abbreviation

The contradiction between these two teachings
            is resolved by:
                 the heart/
spirit
                 or the renewed mind.
But not by the un-renewed mind.

            Matt c5 v30     Matt c18 v8-9     Mark c9 v43-48:
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off,
            and cast
it from thee: for it is profitable for thee
that one of thy members should perish, and not
that
thy whole body should be cast into hell.
   KJV

Jesus said this.  But the contradiction is that
nobody, later in the Bible, did it:
They could all see that the body is weak, not bad:
that the body is a mere tool of the soul.
,                            Perhaps see earlier section: FLESH IS PART OF YOUR SOUL.

                 Jesus was speaking to hearts/spirits.

            He was stressing that hearts/spirits
                 should renew minds.

            Matt c5 v18:
For verily I say unto you,
                 Till heaven and earth pass,
                 one jot or one tittle
shall in no wise pass from the law,
[including food laws]
                 till all be fulfilled.   KJV

            Matt c15 v1-20     Mark c7 v1-23:
Not washing your hands, when eating,
does not affect your standing with God,
            does not make your heart/
spirit unclean.
            Uncleanness of heart/
spirit is shown by what you do and say,
what comes out of a person not what goes in
.   my abbn

The contradiction between these two teachings
            is resolved by:
                 the heart/
spirit
                 or the renewed mind.
But not by the un-renewed mind.

            Matt c22 v15-22      Mark c12 v13-17     Luke c20 v20-27:   my abbn
Wanting to trap Jesus, the Pharisees asked him if they should
pay taxes to Caesar or not.
,                  [Those Pharisees didn’t like the Roman invaders, but they really hated Jesus]
Jesus replied: “Whose portrait & inscription are on the coins?”
            “Caesar’s” They said.
Jesus said: “Then give to Caesar what is Caesar’s,
and to God what is God’s.”
my abbreviation

            The un-renewed mind
sees this as dodging the question.

But the heart/spirit and renewed mind
            are moved by Jesus’ answer.

            Matt c18 v21-35:   my abbreviation
Peter asked Jesus if he should forgive
            as many as seven times
a brother who kept sinning against him.
            Jesus answered:
“Not seven.  But seventy times seven.
The kingdom of heaven is like a king
who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
One owed him a fortune that he could not pay.
                 So he begged for mercy
and the king let him off everything.
That servant then found a fellow servant
                 who owed him a little.
But, even though he too begged for mercy
                 because he could not pay,
                 the first servant demanded it
and had him thrown in prison.
The king heard about this hypocrisy, became angry,
and imprisoned the first servant until he paid his debt.
That is how God will treat you
                 unless you forgive your brother
                 from your heart
.   my abbreviation

The un-renewed mind may privately see
the unmerciful servant as within his rights,
            using the law correctly,
            worldly but right.

But the heart/spirit and renewed mind
            see him as wrong.

.

MATERIALLY:
CHRISTIANS LOSE
YET ALSO WIN

The following three Bible texts (all Jesus talking)
show that, materially, in this life, Christians lose:

            Matt c5 v3-12    (
Luke c6 v20-23):

Blessed are the poor in spirit:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
            Blessed are they that mourn:
            for they shall be comforted.
            Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst
            after righteousness:
            for they shall be filled.
            Blessed
are the merciful:
            for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
            for they shall see God.
            Blessed are the peacemakers:
for they shall be called the children of God.
            Blessed
are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
            Blessed are ye, when
men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely,
for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad:
            for great
is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets
            which were before you.
KJV

      Matt c18 v1-4     Matt c20 v25-27     Matt c23 v11-12     Mark c9 v35

            Mark c10 v42-44     Luke c9 v46-48     Luke c22 v24-27:
The greatest in the kingdom of Heaven:
                  is the ‘least’,
is the one who serves others the most.   my abbn

            Luke c14 v33:
So likewise, whosoever he be of you
that forsaketh not all that he hath,
            he cannot be my disciple.
KJV

Whereas the following eight Bible texts (all Jesus talking)
show that, materially, in this life, Christians also win:

            Matt c6 v33   (
Luke c12 v31):
            But seek ye first the
kingdom of God,
            and his righteousness;
            and all these things
[all material necessities]
            shall be added unto you.
KJV

            Matt c7 v7    (
Luke c11 v9-10):
            Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
KJV

            Matt c7 v11:

If ye then, being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children,
how much more shall your Father
            which is in heaven
give good things to them that ask him?
   KJV

            Matt c18 v19:
            Again I say unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth
as touching any thing that they shall ask,
it shall be done for them
of my Father which is in heaven.
KJV

Mark c11 v22-24    (Matt c21 v21-22):
            And
Jesus answering saith unto them,
                 Have faith in God.
For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
                       Be thou removed,
                       and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith
                 shall come to pass;
                 he shall have
                 whatsoever he saith.
            Therefore I say unto you,
                 What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive
them,
                 and ye shall have
them.   KJV

            Luke c6 v38:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure,
pressed down, and shaken together, and running over,
shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal
it shall be measured to you again.
KJV

            John c14 v12-14:
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
                  He that believeth on me,
                  the works that I do
                  shall he do also;
                  and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father
,         ,         ,       [I die – so that he can send you the Spirit, permanently.]

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
                 that will I do,

that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name,
                 I will do
it.   KJV

John c16 v23-24:
ctd Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,

            he will give
it you.

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name:

            ask, and ye shall receive,

that your joy may be full.
KJV

The Bible texts in the previous cell
            contradict
the Bible texts in the cell before it

            such that
                       they cannot both be believed
                                    by the un-renewed mind
                        but can both be believed
                                   by the heart/
spirit and renewed mind.

            Therefore they are
yet another piece of evidence
            that Jesus spoke:
                       to only our hearts/
spirits
                       and not to our minds
.

.

UNDERSTANDING WITH AN
UN-RENEWED MIND

On this webpage, up until now,
I’ve written that you can:

            Understand the contradiction:
                       Christians lose
                       yet also win.

See it as not a contradiction.

            Though only with:
                 your heart/
spirit
                 or:
                 your renewed mind.

However, there is a way that,
even an un-renewed mind
can see
that Christians lose yet win.

Your heart/spirit is entirely good, is only good points.

But your soul is a mix: good points and bad points.

            Though your heart/
spirit and soul stay the sizes they are,
            your heart/
spirit changes your soul
            gradually making it entirely good.

Hence your total good area grows
while your total mixed area shrinks.

 heart/spirit   soul

Hence the heart/spirit converts the soul,
            robs from the soul.

The heart/spirit gains ever more goodness

while the soul loses ever more worldliness.

            The heart/spirit gains

while the soul loses.

            Christians both win
            and lose.

.

HOW SATAN & HIS UNDERLING DEMONS
STILL TRY TO ROB
US

Technically speaking:

            We believe, now,
in Jesus’ past act of self-sacrifice.

Hence we have God’s Spirit now.

Hence we command or pray now
            which produces answers (very) soon.

            Mark c11 v22-24    (Matt c21 v21-22):
                       And
Jesus answering saith unto them,
                             Have faith in God.
For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
                                   Be thou removed,
                                   and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith
                             shall come to pass;
                             he shall have
                             whatsoever he saith.
                       Therefore I say unto you,
                             What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive
them,
                             and ye shall have
them.   KJV

But, practically speaking:

            It’s less convoluted to believe

that Jesus has already robbed from Satan
all that Satan, long ago, robbed from us.
,                  Perhaps see earlier section:
,                  THE IMPORTANCE OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN.

Matt c12 v22-29     Mark c3 v20-27     Luke c11 v14-22:
Jesus has tied up the strong man who robbed us.
Now Jesus wants us to help ourselves.
   my abbreviation

Satan and his underling demons
then try to rob it back, a second time,
by:
            discouraging belief in us

            &/or encouraging unbelief in us
More about unbelief in later section: UNBELIEF.

so as to make our prayers & commands fail
or even to make us not bother trying.

.

As well as discouraging belief & encouraging unbelief,
demons also encourage us to be
socially and materially destructive:

            All surreptitiously,
so that we don’t realise they’re doing it.

            Keeping it sustainable,
i.e. not encouraging humankind to completely destroy itself.

.

All this is something for demons to do.

Indeed, it’s the only sort of thing they can do:
                       always the spanner
                       never the works.

.

DEMONS ROB IN AN UNUSUAL WAY

Technically speaking:

            D
emons don’t actually rob from us.
            Demons are, primarily, destructive.

Even if they still had bodies,
bodies that could enjoy your goods,
            they’d get more satisfaction
from preventing you having those goods
than from enjoying them for themselves.

But we assimilate the situation better
by thinking that they rob from us.

Mind you:

            D
emons become alive, become active,
            when they verbally encourage
destructive thoughts, emotions & actions, in us.

So, in a sense, they are robbing from us.

It’s just that the goods they get
