If you are a believer, a Christian: You worship only out of gratitude. Not out of earning, duty, etc.

Belief – causes – worship & praise. Worship & praise – do not cause – belief. That would be mere brainwashing, belief should already be there.
Worship & praise have a function (as well as being great self-expression in their own right): 1) They help you renew your mind, i.e. help your heart/spirit: o duplicate its belief into your mind, o establish the pattern of that belief, the pattern of the gospel, agape love, throughout your mind. , , , , , Perhaps see earlier sections: , , , , , WHAT IS A BELIEVER? Or, as Andrew Wommack often puts it: Worshipping & praising God is one way to magnify him, in your eyes. This de-magnifies your problems, in your eyes, puts them in perspective.
Here is an Old Testament, indeed Old Covenant, example of 2) & 3). , , I wish I could find New Testament, New Covenant, examples. , , But I’m sure lots of great Christian meetings have seen it in action. 2 Chron c20 v1-30 my abbreviation: Israel had split to become Israel and Judah. And now Judah was threatened, with extinction or slavery, by the vast combined armies of its surrounding nations. But Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, proclaimed a national fast. Many eagerly came to fast, pray, & seek God. Then king Jehoshaphat prayed in front of them all. Then God’s Spirit replied, through Jahaziel, that the battle was not theirs but God’s, and that God would win it for them but that they had to go to their enemies and face them. So Jehoshaphat encouraged the people to have faith, in God, and in the prophets. So they went, full of gratitude, expecting nothing but victory. The singers were at the front, ahead of the army, singing: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures for ever.” When they finally arrived they found that God had set [angelic?] ambushes that had encouraged the enemy armies to wipe each other out – to a man. They were all dead, leaving collectable booty. Then the fear of God came upon the surrounding nations and they left Judah alone. my abbreviation Though realise that worship & praise mean nothing if you worship & praise God only in order to get something from him. Worship & praise are not worship & praise if they’re fake.

	God invented time, in Heaven, and here, because it increases complexity, increases structure. But there are few songs about the Crucifixion causing us to: o receive God’s Spirit, o renew our minds which enables the Holy Spirit to live in: every room of your mind, every area of your life, which enables the gifts of the Spirit.

	Old Covenant: God is holy (we are not holy though: neither to him, nor to other people). Hence I bow down because he is the Lord. Hence God is up there and we can’t get near him.			New Covenant: Even if I am not yet holy to others people, God has made all of us holy to him. I have made God (all three) my Lord. 	Singing: “I will praise you.” “I will love you.” “I will etc.” Every time you sing these they imply that you don’t yet do them.			Singing: “I praise you now Jesus: because you have taken the Father’s wrath against me, and because of the good, even miraculous good, that the Cross now causes.”
	We should improve this world. Hence our lives should be centred on this world. Besides, this world is our home. Above statements are: true false false. 	Jesus – you died for me. So I owe you all my things.			Jesus – you died for me. So I have given you myself (all my things come with me).
	God is a mystery: to the mind, and perhaps to the heart/spirit.			We know, love, and contain, God, hear him speak if we quieten, & have a thick book all about him.

	Often singing about God, often singing in the third person. The words are just dry & factual. They could be sung by: a fawning human or even a fawning demon.			Often singing to God often singing in the first person. The words are praise & worship. So no demon can sing them, and an unbeliever singing them would feel challenged.
	If the lyrics are, say: "He is the Lord.” I change them, as I sing it, to: “You are my Lord.”

	WORSHIP TIPS
	The mind: is both static and dynamic, both knows and thinks. But the heart/spirit is only static, contains no processes: It: ‘knows’ what it ‘knows’ & that’s the end of it. Or rather: believes what it believes & that’s the end of it. The heart/spirit is static, contains no processes, so it does not notice time passing. So, it does not get bored. So, if you consider your own heart’s/spirit’s favourite praise/worship song: your heart/spirit will not tire of it.
